American Spirit Lights at TJ Eckleburg Review

I’m thrilled that one of the best (if not the best) flashes I have written appears this week at The T.J. Eckleburg Review (formerly Moon Milk Review). I hope you will have a look and leave a comment for “American Spirit Lights”.

On the writing front, I managed 1340 words today, but it was a struggle. The result, a cross-genre flash tentatively entitled “Harvest” is better than yesterday’s effort, but will require some polish.

Tomorrow, another 1000 words or more!

Daily Goals

Milo James FowlerMy friend and prolific speculative fiction writer, Milo James Fowler, recently blogged about how his daily writing goal has helped him to increase production AND quality of work.  Given my problems with maintaining day to day momentum, I thought I would give it a try. For the rest of February, I vow to write at least 1000 new words each day. Can I do this? Will it drive me over the edge or free me to write more and better works? Stay tuned.

Office Rapport at Pure Slush

My latest flash, “Office Rapport” is live at Pure Slush. It’s a tricky one. I hope you enjoy.

“You’re blowing this out of proportion,” Janice said. She laid her iPhone on the desk. The screen showed a graph with primary-colored lines that resembled a mountain range. Billings on the y-axis, month on the x. I leaned forward, careful not to kick the bundle wedged beneath the desk. A shudder scuttled through. I didn’t want to think about that, who it was, why it was there. I’d been holed up all morning waiting for Management’s shoe to drop.
